Art in Public Space

2016

Interactive installation and online animation.

The project consists of a green screen, backgrounds made in Unreal Engine 4 and the audience’s analogue input when drawing. They can choose between different setups where I use ‘gamification’ structures, but they have no opportunity to see the finished result until afterwards so they have to use their imagination.

What do they think belongs in a landscape? In a developing area in the rapidly growing suburban town of Ski (Norway), I look at the discrepancy between visualization and the experience of an actual place.

With the help of Marthe Dahl, Jaksha Ghana Nagarasa and Hanne Rivrud we set up a workshop with printed imagery and a drawing station, a camera and a choice of symbols:

Animal, air, mineral. Then they had to choose a season background: Moon, Winter, Desert.

After choosing a symbol and background the participants had to imagine what it would look like.

This was no problem for the children.

The symbol functioned as a tag for the green screen.

I had many results to make in post-production, and all participants who had signed the papers and agreed to it got a link to their results.
