INTERACTIVE AND IMMERSIVE WORKS
I have explored Virtual Reality since 2017 and Augmented Reality since 2022. Both have arrived from a place of interest in the phenomenology of perceived reality, storytelling and human adaptation.
The VR works are immersive experiences where a physical gallery space acts as an abstract double of the Virtual Space. You navigate both spaces simultaneously; the physical space is abstracted and tactile, opposing the gamified digital smoothness.
I activate the hardware and the engagement of VR with performative aspects, instructions and an institutional setting where the expectation of behaviours are established as rules/habits.
The AR works are made to function in public spaces and are concerned with storytelling, magic, myths and world-building as well as the duality of the medium.
In all these works I am concerned with embodied cognition in physical and digital space.
By using existing physical spaces like institutions, digital architecture and gamification I explore the possibilities in the phenomenological experience made possible by these technologies. The tools are explored as an extension of the human hand, mind and sensory apparatus, and explore the boundaries and stories already existing. In this way, I question how we relate to demands on the body and mind that are imposed on us in subtle ways and expose methods of control and pressure you cannot see.
These works are all a result of a team effort, and I wish to highlight that they were created with the help of developers, actors, and other skilled people.
